Submissions will open for the 2022 AOA Annual Leadership Meetings in Fall 2021.

Completing a Submission

The following information is required to complete a submission:

  • Abstract title
  • Whether this material will be presented or published prior to the AOA Annual Leadership Meeting, and if it was previously submitted to the American Orthopaedic Association
  • Complete presenting author/moderator and co-author/speaker contact information and disclosures

Word Counts:

  • Summary (150 words)
  • Objectives; Materials and Methods; Results; Conclusion (600 words)

Note: All posters will be electronic unless otherwise indicated upon acceptance.

Symposium Submission Categories

Topics

Symposium presentations should be controversial, engaging, timely, and impactful. Topics should address:

  • Orthopaedic Socioeconomic Issues
  • Medical-Legal Concerns
  • Orthopaedic Research
  • Orthopaedic Academics
  • Leadership Topics

Eligibility

  • AOA Members are invited to submit an abstract for an Annual Meeting symposium.
  • The Symposium Moderator must be an AOA member.
  • Symposium Speakers may be non-members.
  • An AOA Emerging Leader can serve as a co-moderator in conjunction with an AOA Member. However, only the AOA Member can be listed as a moderator in the submission system.
  • If an AOA Member would like to identify an AOA Emerging Leader as a co-moderator, please contact the AOA at education@aoassn.org.

CORD Affiliates are invited to submit symposium abstracts related to resident/fellow education and training.

Eligibility

The Moderator of a CORD Conference Symposium must be an Affiliate of a CORD program in good standing. Additional co-authors may be non-CORD Affiliates.

AOA Members, Emerging Leaders, and clinicians from Own the Bone-enrolled institutions are invited to submit an idea for the full-day Own the Bone symposium.

Submission Instructions

Please include the intended length of your presentation in your submission. Own the Bone symposium submissions should:

  • Address a topic related to secondary fracture prevention, fragility fracture patient care, or bone health management of orthopaedic patients.
  • Be appropriate for a mixed clinical audience, including MDs, RNs, PAs, and NPs with a range of experience in secondary fracture prevention.
  • Provide your experience, successes and/or tips on setting up a secondary fracture prevention program.

Eligibility

Moderators for Own the Bone Symposium must be an AOA member or affiliated with an Own the Bone-enrolled institution.

Poster Abstract Submission Categories

Lead Author Responsibilities

Lead authors must accept the following responsibilities:

  • Attend the AOA Annual Leadership Meeting for which this abstract is being submitted
  • Electronic upload of the poster
  • Ensure all abstract content is accurate.

If the Lead Author fails to comply with the above responsibilities, the author will be sanctioned from submitting an abstract for the following year’s Annual Leadership Meetings.

  • The Lead Author must be an AOA Member or AOA Emerging Leader.
  • Co-authors may be non-AOA members/AOA Emerging Leader.
